BANKING AND INSURANCE

Students in the Banking and Insurance Department receive four years of undergraduate education. Additionally, English language courses are offered throughout each semester to support students’ foreign language development.

Business life is fundamentally changing with technological advancements; in parallel with these technological developments, money and financial markets act as the main catalyst in the evolution of almost all business sectors. The banking and insurance sector is increasingly strengthening its importance both globally and in our country, and the need for trained expert workforce in this field is growing.

In this context, the aim of the BUBFA Banking and Insurance Department is to address the fact that the areas of activity of banks and insurance institutions are constantly expanding and their importance is increasing in business and daily life, which are being reshaped by rapid developments in science and technology. Financial problems often lie at the root of national and international economic downturns. Considering these factors, the Banking and Insurance Department of the Bolvadin Faculty of Applied Sciences, planned to be opened within Afyon Kocatepe University in 2013, aims to train individuals specialized in both the banking and insurance sectors. This specialized training will strengthen students’ employment opportunities and desirability.

The Banking-Insurance Department offers a 4-year undergraduate program. Courses and course content are selected and structured to ensure students acquire sufficient professional background and management skills. The first two years of the program include courses related to basic mathematics, computer science, economics, and business administration. The remaining two years offer professional courses such as Monetary Theory and Policy, Banking Law, Insurance Legislation, Capital Markets, Banking Operations, International Financial Markets, Credit Policy and Evaluation, Central Bank and Bank Accounting, and Insurance Accounting. To enable students to apply their acquired knowledge before graduation, familiarize themselves with the sector, and develop their relationships with it, they will be required to complete a 30-day summer internship and at least 200 hours of on-the-job training under the supervision of the department. In this context, the vast majority of vocational courses will be taught by valuable experts from the public and private sectors who are specialists in their fields, and students’ On-the-Job Vocational Training studies will be carried out in cooperation with the Undersecretariats of Treasury and Foreign Trade, the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, the Ministry of Finance, the State Planning Organization, National Banks and Financial Institutions, and intermediary institutions of our University.
